Running a growing dairy operation on 140 hectares near Taupō, Paul and Megan Dyer were looking for a smarter way to feed their herd while protecting pasture and improving efficiency across the farm.

With around 500 Jersey cows currently in the system and plans to increase herd numbers, they knew the infrastructure they invested in needed to support the future of their business, not just today’s operation.

Because the site was a greenfield development, the Dyers had the opportunity to design the system right from the start. After researching different options, they quickly identified Aztech as the specialists in feedpad covers and dairy infrastructure.

Covered feedpads also help reduce feed waste and improve feed utilisation, with protected feeding areas often achieving up to 98% feed utilisation compared with 60–70% on uncovered pads.
