After two decades of open-air feeding, the team at Barrett Farms in Hurford made the call to build a custom cover for their 450-herd and the difference has been game-changing.
The switch to a 50/50 sharemilking arrangement brought fresh energy to the business, and the timing was right to invest in infrastructure that would set the team up for future success.
The new structure not only protects feed and keeps cows drier in wet months, but it also helps reduce nutrient runoff – a win for both efficiency and the environment.
