Otorohanga Feedpad Cover – Built for High Rainfall, High Performance

Running a high-output 1,000-cow dairy farm in Otorohanga means dealing with serious rainfall, winter milking demands and the pressure that comes with protecting pasture and cows year-round. After two years of assessing different shed designs, they chose Aztech for one clear reason: strength, longevity and a build process that could work around a fully operational farm.

This large feedpad cover was designed to handle Otorohanga’s heavy water catchment, with around 250–300 square metres of runoff captured per feedpad bay. Housing cows under roof through the colder months has reduced pasture damage, improved cow comfort during winter milking and created more consistent, controlled feeding conditions.

Despite the scale of the project, the build was seamless. Milking continued every day, cows still used the pad during construction and the installation team worked around farm operations without disruption. Materials arrived on time, the structure went up quickly and the team delivered a sturdier, high-wind build to suit local conditions.
