Roller Door Buying guide

There are many different options when it comes to selecting Roller doors for your build.

The 4 main options are Series 1, Series 2, Roller shutter & Sectional doors.

See the differences below.

Series 1
Thickness: 0.40 Gauge metal
Colour option: Coloursteel range
Powered by: Spring loaded
Application:
Series 1 roller doors are designed as lightweight and cost-effective options for domestic use. With a maximum width and height of 3.0m x 3.0m, Series 1 roller doors are suitable for applications where minimal height or clearance is needed.

Series 2
Thickness: 0.55 Guage metal
Colour option: Coloursteel range
Powered by: Chain driven (Motors optional)
Application:
Series 2 roller doors are slightly more expensive than the series 1 range but are designed to cater to light industrial-grade needs, providing robustness and durability.

They come in various sizes, starting from approximately 3.2m wide x 3.2m high, and can go up to 4.0m wide x 5.0m high. This versatility makes them suitable for a range of applications, mostly found in lifestyle sheds and farm buildings.

Roller shutter doors

Thickness: 0.7mm – 1.0mm
Colour option: Powder coat colour options.
Powered by: Chain driven (Motors optional)
Application:
Roller shutter doors tend to be significantly more expensive than the series 2 however they have a much more robust design and are recommended for industrial applications or locations with high wind.
These doors can be over 8.0m wide and up to 6.0m high allowing the ability to store much larger vehicles. They are heavy-duty commercial-grade doors and due to the strength of their construction, they are very secure and perform exceptionally well in high winds.

Sectional doors

Thickness: 0.55mm – 0.75mm
Colour option: Vary with supplier.
Powered by: Motor Driven
Application:
Sectional door vary a lot in aesthetics and construction and are a less common choice for sheds and commercial applications.
These doors come in various sizes, ranging from 2.2m to 4.0m in height and 2.4m to 5.1m in width.
One disadvantage of sectional doors is they require guides to run up and back from the door (like a typical residential garage door) this can limit internal clearance heights and create nesting areas for birds.
