Steel Finishes - What does Aztech use?

Aztech's standard steel finish is a Z450 Galvanized coating.

Z450 is a lot higher quality that a majority of steel sheds on the market today and we often get a lot of questions around the advantages of the upgrade, explained below.

Z450 galvanizing is a process used to protect steel from rust and corrosion. It involves coating the steel with a layer of zinc, which acts as a shield against harmful elements like moisture and oxygen that can cause the metal to rust.

Here's how it works: The steel is first cleaned to remove any impurities and then dipped into a bath of molten zinc. The zinc bonds with the steel surface, creating a protective layer. The "Z450" part refers to the thickness of the zinc coating, with 450 grams of zinc per square metre of steel.

Now, let's talk about the benefits of using Z450 galvanizing in sheds compared to lower grades:

1. Enhanced Corrosion Protection: The thicker zinc coating in Z450 galvanizing provides superior protection against rust and corrosion. This means the shed is more resistant to damage caused by rain, humidity, and other environmental factors.

 2. Longer Lifespan: With better corrosion resistance, a shed made with Z450 galvanized steel is likely to last longer than sheds with lower-grade coatings. It can withstand exposure to the elements for many years without deteriorating quickly.

3. Lower Maintenance: Because the galvanized coating acts as a barrier against rust, you'll need to do less maintenance on a Z450 galvanized shed compared to sheds with lower-grade coatings. It saves you time and effort in the long run

4. Increased Strength: Galvanizing not only protects the steel from corrosion but also adds to its structural strength. A Z450 galvanized shed can better withstand loads, making it more reliable and sturdy.

5. Better Appearance: Z450 galvanizing provides a smooth and uniform coating on the steel, giving the shed a clean and attractive appearance. The zinc coating can also be painted over easily if desired.

6. Cost-Effectiveness: While Z450 galvanizing may be slightly more expensive upfront than lower-grade coatings, its long-term benefits outweigh the initial cost. The extended lifespan and reduced maintenance make it a cost-effective choice over time.
