Spanning 100.1m by 20m across 14 bays of 7.15m, the Cawte composting barn covers 2002m² under a gable roof, built on Futura Steel Box-Beam rafters and purlins (Z450) supported by H5-treated timber poles. It's finished in zinc-aluminium 0.40mm 5-rib steel cladding with 300mm box guttering to each side and a trafficable translucent sheet in every bay.

The barn gives the herd room to spread out and stay dry through the wettest months, with natural light reaching every bay via the translucent roofing. Composting barns like this one keep bedding aerated and manageable over winter, supporting effluent and freshwater compliance without cutting into pasture time.
